Our treatments can help your child with all these symptoms. It promotes calmness, behaviour improvement, and better focus. Reiki has also been helpful in the treatment of inattentiveness, irritability, ADD/ADHD, Obsessive Compulsive Disorders (OCD), agitation or anxiety of any form (separation anxiety, anxiety associated with trying new things, social anxiety), stress and irrational fears, mood swings and anger issues, temper tantrums, illnesses, injuries, sensory processing disorders, autism, unexplained fatigue and pain.

These treatments can also support your child through specific life events, such as starting school, bullying, moving house, family issues, arrival of a sibling, exams, or dealing with separation or death.

Children's Reiki and EFT (Tapping)

Combining a 30 minute Reiki session and 30 minute EFT Tapping workshop is an extremely powerful method of relieving any unwelcome emotions for your child such as anxiety, fear or stress.  The Reiki will help release any existing trapped negative emotions and the EFT Tapping will become an easy and effective tool to tackle any new emotions that arise. Your child can use this coping strategy to help process emotions in a healthy way without them becoming trapped in the body or developing into negative self-beliefs.

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), also known as ‘Tapping’, is a quick and easy tool to reduce negative emotions that can benefit children of all ages.  Although children feel stress and anxiety, they often lack the words to express it, leading stress to remain ‘stuck’ in the body.  When this happens, a child may feel afraid or upset without knowing why.  Not only is this process confusing, but it can also lead to more worry, negative emotions and acting out.  EFT is an excellent way for children to regulate these stress levels and feel more in control of their wellbeing.  Most importantly, this powerful method can help children overcome negative emotions before they have the chance to become negative self-beliefs.

What is EFT Tapping?

EFT Tapping is a self-healing technique which combines ancient Chinese wisdom with cutting-edge neuroscience. It involves gently tapping on your body’s acupressure (meridian) points while repeating a mindfulness statement. Sometimes referred to as ‘acupuncture without the needles’, it combines acupuncture, neurolinguistic programming, and energy psychology.

At Realise Wellness, we believe it is more important than ever to help children feel secure and empowered.  Reiki and EFT is a wonderful way of doing just that.  Tapping is beneficial for a child’s wellbeing, has no adverse side effects and is remarkably effective, with many children noting that they feel happier and healthier after just one tapping session!

Children's Reiki and Mindfulness

All children will, at times, have difficulty focusing and managing their emotions. Stress, in particular, is an epidemic in our society and, of course, children are affected by it, too. They often struggle to manage the stresses and pressures of exams, busy schedules and social pressures.  Social media and body image can cause anxiety and self esteem issues in many young people.  This stress and anxiety can show up in many different ways with children - they can have sleep issues, lose their appetite or overeat, have stomach pains, headaches, have tantrums / anger issues, tears, exhibit irrational behaviour, self harm, have difficulty going to school and concentrating on their school work.

 

Our personalised programme of Mindfulness activities and Reiki is an ideal combination to help children to slow their thoughts down, calm their nervous systems, regulate emotions, build self-esteem, reduce anxiety and connect to their true self.  It gives them an opportunity to gain a greater awareness of their bodies, minds and emotions, in turn empowering them with a life long toolkit to tackle the world and embrace all it has to offer.

What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness simply means being present in the ‘here and now’ in our thoughts; with practice we can improve our ability to focus on the current moment without interference from negative past events, future concerns or worries and our own noisy internal chatter.

Research has consistently shown that mindfulness practice has a powerful influence over health, well-being, mental balance, happiness, school life/work and relationships.

Mindful activities do not act as a magic wand that removes difficulties from our lives but help us to deal with negative emotions such as anger, fear, resentment and jealousy without repressing or denying them. It is the fighting and repressing of such uncomfortable feelings that causes problems such as destructive and attention seeking behaviour, self-harm and eating disorders which are prevalent amongst our young people.*

Benefits of Mindfulness

  • improve focus and attention – regular meditation strengthens the prefrontal cortex – the reflective part of the brain and encourages a state of relaxed, wakeful attention. Meditation also promotes a better quality of sleep which also boosts focus.

  • have a positive impact on the physical body – regular meditation and mindful tools help to boost relaxation and thus alleviate physical symptoms of stress e.g. tummy upsets, so less time off school.

  • promote self-regulation of behaviour – a strengthened prefrontal cortex allows children and young people to be aware of that split second of time between stimulus and reaction thus permitting a considered response to stress e.g. being able to overcome the urge to react aggressively to another pupil who is goading them.

  • manage impulsivity – as children strengthen their prefrontal cortex they are more aware of their choice of how to react to stimuli e.g. the teacher asking the class a question and the child being aware that they have a choice not to shout out the answer.

  • encourage positivity – teaching children how to process negative emotions and let go of negative thoughts and so that they can face regular aspects of life more easily, e.g. studying or sitting exams without being overwhelmed by fear and anxiety.

  • build self-esteem – children know that whatever is going on around them they can choose how they react on the inside. They are more aware of those choices and responses and with this comes empowerment. They can be more confident about their ability to respond positively to situations they find stressful and modify their behaviour accordingly.

  • build resilience – children and young people have more of an ‘I can’ approach to difficulties because they have more confidence to deal with frustration in a positive way.
